The Ruinguard

The Ruinguard is an independent organization. It has a presence in every nation, usually centered around the major cities. It maintains neutrality in political disputes, acting as an independent force. It works in tandem with its host governments to track down and eliminate rising threats to peace and prosperity, but is by no means controlled by them. It funds itself through its network of craftsmen and investments in material commodities, allowing it to remain outside the influence of external patrons.
It concerns itself with investigating reports of sinister and monstrous activities around the world. It clears out bone-filled dens of ravenous beasts and thwarts the plans of hag covens and wicked outsiders. However, it rarely does so in the public eye. The common man sees the Ruinguard as an organization of strange men and women who show up, ask questions, and vanish. If, after they leave, fewer people go missing or beasts stop harassing the area, what of it? Who knows what happened?
Many see the Ruinguard as enigmatic defenders of the peaceful, but just as many see sinister intent in their quiet tactics.
